The exhibition “Bodies” presents a selection of the artist’s figurative works from the years 2021-2023. In her work, Vendula Vaculová primarily explores interpersonal relationships and human characteristics through situations in which people find themselves, either due to circumstances or by their own doing. The viewer is offered a duality between what is immediately perceived to be happening and what could actually be happening. The characters in the paintings are captured momentarily in instances of vulnerability, often during intimate and private moments. These situations, often candid and fleeting, are utilized by the artist as a vessel of true human essence and character. In this way, the artist takes moments, usually obscured and hidden behind the walls of mundane normality, and brings them to the surface, exposed and laid bare for all to see.
