In the ‘Aberro’ series was Milan Sodoma inspired by fashion photography. The women in the paintings are depicted in poses that we know from the pages of fashion magazines. They are beautiful and perfect.
This ideal image of Milan violates the so-called chromatic aberration, which is a sign of a lens defect. This is manifested by the colored edging of the contrasting edges, especially on the edges of the photos.
The word aberration, originally coming from the Latin Aberro, means “deviation” or “going astray”. This definition characterizes the series as such, because here Milan deviated from his usual painting practice, when he paints exclusively in black.
